15. KAZIMIERAS ŽOROMSKIS MUSEUM

Authors

ARCHITECT – A. Bykovskis, 1895; RECONSTRUCTION ARCHITECTS – S. Šarkinas, L. Merkinas, 1995

About

As you walk down Kalinausko Street, you can’t help but notice the building with the memorial plaque that reminds us that the artist Kazimieras Leonardas Žoromskis lived and worked here from 1995 to 2004.

Nestled in the depths of a park, the building stands out for its elegance and original composition. An addition designed by the architect duo of Saulius Šarkinas and Leonidas Merkinas was built in 1995 to serve as the artist’s studio. The new part of the building was erected on the foundations of the official representative chambers that stood here in 1895. In addition, the postmodern architecture was coordinated with the 19th century neo-Gothic building standing alongside. This is where the mastery of the architects in creating a new villa in the surroundings of an existing park really comes to light.

We invite you to see the neo-Gothic and postmodern building and visit the home and museum of the famous contemporary artist Kazimieras Leonardas Žoromskis, where a unique collection of paintings is on display.
