About

With its broken plan and odd shape, the building is fitted to the complex narrow slope and the busy street, and blocks the jumbled surrounding architecture. The aesthetics of its façades are created by stream-lined staircases and paired, narrow bands of windows vertically dividing nearly blind rectangular ones. The building is valuable for the play of rigid and plastic shapes as well as the successful adaptation of the architecture to the difficult terrain.

During Open House Vilnius, don’t pass up the opportunity to go inside the building and see the highlights of the interior: artist Algirdas Dovydėnas’s stained glass and Mūsų kraštas (“Our Land”) – a 240 m² mural painting that is inscribed in the Cultural Heritage List.

And don’t be surprised if, when walking down the straight corridors of this building, you suddenly go from the first floor to the third and experience a bizarre sense of teleportation.
