54. Venclovas' House – Museum

Authors

J. Borowskis ir I. Smorgonskis, 1938

About

This city villa is harmoniously integrated into the expressive slope of Tauras Hill. Sensitivity for the natural and urban environment, as well as attention to detail, characterise the high-quality modern architecture of the Interwar Period in Vilnius.

As Vilnius began to be reborn and flourish after the exhausting war, this villa became the home of the family of Antanas Venclova, the famous Lithuanian poet, novelist, literary critic, translator and politician. After the war, this place became a magnet for many people, and was often visited by the intelligentsia and artists of Vilnius.

The building has preserved its rich interior heritage, with Art Deco furniture and numerous other authentic pieces that tell the stories of life in the villa at that time.
