About

When you hear the name “SoDra” (the State Social Insurance Fund Board), many of you probably picture the administrative building as a boring and gloomy bureaucratic temple. But that’s far from the truth! Consisting of two-symmetrical bodies connected with an axis of an unusual funnel-shaped composition a seven-story planar building is undoubtedly one of the most unique buildings in the Karoliniškės district. Even though the building was designed and built for SoDra from the very beginning, the architects did not limit themselves to functionality – they also added an interesting, eye-catching twist by designing the building to look like a flying swan when viewed from above. Taking a closer look at the unusual structures in one of the service halls, you can also sense a distinct Steampunk spirit.

The tour will give you a chance to see the famous Funnel of SoDra from within, wander through the basement, and explore the older part of the building, where you will get a glimpse of relatively modern yet already forgotten relics from pre-credit card days. At the site, you will also have a chance to take in panoramic views of the Karoliniškės and Lazdynai districts, and find out how Karoliniškės could have been named.
