About

In this tour, two Vilnius’ districts located on the opposite banks of the river Neris will be explored: Antakalnis and Žirmūnai. Antakalnis is one of the oldest and most prestigious micro-districts in Vilnius, and since the old times, has been the haunt of the Vilnius elite, reflective through their estates, which continue to embellish the district. Conversely, Žirmūnai is reflective of Soviet urbanism and the first big-scale residential district. However, you may also find a manor in Žirmūnai and most of Antakalnis’ dwellings currently are Soviet apartment buildings. Let’s take a walk in these two contrasting districts, observing their most known architectural monuments and explore the differences and similarities between the two river banks.

Tours will be guided in Lithuanian.
