Industrial Site Redevelopment | Corner Hotel and Loft Gallery

Naujamiestis’ industrial past – once defined by radiotechnics, electrical engineering, drill manufacturing, and other industries – is today being reshaped by a growing loft culture that fosters a creative community. Two projects that reflect this transformation are the Corner Hotel and Loft Gallery.

The Corner Hotel is located in the former premises of the Elektrit radio factory and the classified military Plant No. 555. The building later served as the “Gilė” student dormitory, and since 2011 it has been adapted for hotel use. In 2024, the property was acquired by the real estate developer REEFO, which renewed both its concept and spaces, introducing a hybrid accommodation model.

Loft Gallery is a building-gallery created in 2023 through the reconstruction of a former wastewater treatment facility. The architecture studio Heima introduced a bold architectural accent within a grey industrial courtyard, creating 37 creative spaces. Artworks integrated into the shared areas turn the building into a living, constantly evolving gallery.

Together, these projects connect the area’s industrial past with a contemporary way of living – where art integration, the authentic spirit of the district, and sustainable approaches to building reuse come together.
