The “Old Town Gardens” quarter is emerging in a place where, centuries ago, life in the outskirts of Vilnius once thrived. In the early 19th century, the renowned naturalist Juozapas Strumila cultivated a botanical garden in this area – giving the street its name and turning the surrounding territory into a green point of attraction.

Today, this historical memory is not merely a story – during construction, authentic 19th-century cellars and foundations were uncovered and preserved in visible form. Rather than being filled in or concealed, they have been respectfully integrated into the structure of the new buildings, maintaining a direct connection to the past.

The project, designed by AKETURI architects, seeks to embody the architectural rhythm of old Vilnius. Durable brick façades and expressive, curved volumes blend harmoniously into the surroundings, where the calm of former gardens meets the dynamism of the contemporary station district.

This part of the city is undergoing a true revival, opening up to new cultural spaces and green areas. From the construction site, panoramic views of church towers seen through large windows reinforce the site’s historical character, while contemporary design solutions ensure comfort without losing touch with the city’s long history.
