Nestled amidst traditional wooden cottages in one of Vilnius’ oldest districts, the stylish Linea exhibition salon has emerged. This innovative yet traditional-shaped building, resembling a composition of two shifted houses, preserves the cultural and urban history of Žvėrynas and naturally blends into its rich surroundings.
The idea for the building was inspired by the urban environment and the company’s name (Linea – Latin for “line”). Ceramic panels used for the facade and roof finishes, like lines in front of glass showcases, create a sense of grace, lightness, and openness.
The building itself, both inside and out, is an exhibit. And this is closely related to the activities of the shopping center located inside. The finishing materials become a direct key to decoding this building. Externally they are used in moderation – only as much as is needed to emphasize the building’s silhouette and open up the exhibition space. The golden ratio, a rule found in all visually appealing images, is used for this purpose.
The combination of glass and ceramic facade panels, lighting, and surrounding greenery – all elements of the Linea building merge into a unified whole, harmoniously fitting into the urban fabric.
