About

• The oldest theater building in Vilnius, built in 1913;

• For more than a century, it has not changed its purpose: theatres of the Vilnius Polish, National Opera and Ballet, National Drama, and National Youth operated here. Currently, it belongs to the The Old Theatre of Vilnius;

• The building is described as belonging to a rare style in Lithuania – Pavyslis Renaissance;

• In the past, theater-goers could come right to the entrance door under the portico when they arrived in carriages;

• The Council of Lithuania, elected in the autumn of 1917 in the theater hall, declared Lithuania’s Independence on February 16, 1918;

• The most mysterious place in the building is its war shelter.
