About
Discover the new, modern campus of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA), currently under construction at the foot of Table Hill in Vilnius. The natural terrain of this area began to be reshaped in the late 17th century by filling in ravines, and by the 19th–20th centuries, hilltops were leveled to accommodate military barracks.Today, the site is transforming once again – becoming a unified center for the LMTA’s previously scattered infrastructure across Vilnius, evolving into a hub for arts and education.
The planned complex will consist of five new buildings arranged around a central, irregularly elongated square, along with a 19th-century gunpowder warehouse, which will be converted into a small concert hall, and a student dormitory. The irregular spatial forms and varied perspectives that emerge here reflect the spirit of Baroque Vilnius Old Town. The entire LMTA complex will feature extensive glass façades opening towards Kalnai Park, filling the space with light and openness.
The first two buildings began operating in September 2024: the Faculty of Theatre and Dance (TŠF) and the National Film School (KIMO). These facilities include specialized studios, classrooms, individual workspaces, editing rooms, performance halls, and recreational areas – all designed to support every stage of creative work, from production to presentation.
