    Rusų g. 5, Senamiestis

The building, where Vilnius International School is settled, dates back to the late 18th century. The original building consisted of two parts: a wooden structure on Latako Street and a brick building on Rusų Street. These parts were adapted to serve as production workshops, warehouses, administration, and the owner’s apartment of a chocolate factory.

The Vilnius International School didn’t miss the opportunity to implement its expansion plans by acquiring the former cookie factory complex, which had been standing next door for 20 years, and established the school there.

Integrated into the Old Town, the building compactly accommodates all the necessary functions for a school: classrooms, an amphitheater-event space, a library, a cafeteria, and even a gym.

The building’s expression is a blend of contemporary architectural solutions and old building details and historical markers, reminiscent of the old fabric of Vilnius. The interior design is also rich in history-telling symbols: the original brickwork is exposed, and the school’s reception desk and the seating areas are made from the burned wood of the previous buildings of this site. The school’s distinctiveness is its modern approach to environmental sustainability and its special attention to the use of natural materials.

The Vilnius International School is a contemporary interpretation of a building that represents the building’s history through modern means.
