Historical apartment on Z. Sierakausko Street

At the beginning of the 20th century, at the initiative of Anastasia Danilova, a flat was built next to her villa in a modernist-style house designed by architect and engineer Mikhail Prozorov (1860–after 1914) in Naujamiestis. After a century, this apartment acquired a distinctive authentic atmosphere.

Architects Renata Mockutė and Dainius Putinas, after acquiring this lived-in 54-square-meter flat, aimed to revive it carefully and gradually—researching, experimenting, and searching for sustainable solutions and suitable natural materials. Their goal was to preserve as much authenticity as possible in this historic building.

In the two-room apartment with its historic layout, the original windows and doors were preserved, featuring creaky but historically significant handles, tempered floors, and carefully revealed wall painting fragments. Natural clay plaster mixtures were used for wall finishes, with colors mixed on-site to restore the authentic atmosphere of the space. Three generations of the family actively participated in this project.

The hosts invite visitors to experience slowness, observe the revived authenticity, and feel the relationship between inherited and integrated new elements. Visitors can also see how this apartment reflects both the identity of the house and its historical context.
