    Raugyklos g. 3, Senamiestis

The building at Raugyklos street 3 is still a reminder of the architectural periods it lived through. The current phase is thought to belong to the late 18th century – the Late Classicism period – and is a pure reflection of life in Vilnius at that time.

During the renovation of 2020, the architects’ task was to preserve as much of the building’s authentic spirit as possible. No attempt has been made to replicate ancient details in the design of the architecture, but it was boldly stated that things that are new must look contemporary and modern.

The reconstruction of the building has preserved authentic fragments of the walls and the original floor level, which is clearly visible by comparing the height of the building with the level of the pavement. The façade of the building, which forms the perimeter of the street, is of an ash grey colour – a colour not often seen in the Old Town of Vilnius nowadays, although it used to be quite popular at the time. In the courtyard, the change of times is reflected in the principle of contrast: light indicates things that are old or restored according to authentic details, while dark shows what is new, modern and reflects the trends of today.

The distinctive feature of the building and its main axis is the public space at its centre – the inner courtyard. It is a vibrant place for creativity and ideas, around which architects, designers, event organisers and lawyers are based.
