Beepart art workshop

The Beepart Workshop is not only a great object of temporary architecture, but also an interesting example of a solution to the issue of cultural life in residential areas. The workshop, which was built on a private initiative out of three shipping containers, actively contributes to the life of the Pilaitė community through a wide range of events and activities.

In Vilnius, as in other post-Soviet cities, all the entertainment and events are concentrated in the city centre, mostly in the Old Town, while most of the city, also known as the “sleeping districts”, is in a state of cultural and social stagnation. Beepart was set up to create a centre of attraction for the community in the area. It is a place where unique ideas are born and brought to life. It houses a gallery, a sports club, an art workshop, a local handicraft shop, a cinema and more, all in one freely transformable space.

Designed in two years, the building stands out for its atypical design, its different sense of space and its innovative, environmentally friendly solutions. The Beepart building is a kind of show house, where many innovative solutions can be seen, felt and tested. With the exception of the electricity supply, the modular building is completely independent of the city’s infrastructure.
