House-museum of Benediktas

In the heart of Vilnius Old Town, there is a private interior – the House-museum of Benediktas. The aristocratic interior spaces tell many stories of the past and house an exceptional collection of paintings by the artist Vytautas Kasiulis.

The old secrets of the house are revealed in the fresh spaces and subtle details: classical frescoes, masonry layers, and beams gnawed by woodworms. While in the house-museum of Benediktas, the sound of harpsichord music begins to ring in your mind, played in the grand spaces.

The size of the apartment is intriguing, and as you move through the space, noticing subtle details, the history-rich spaces reveal themselves from new perspectives and interesting angles. Life is bustling in the heart of the apartment – a designed kitchen with a large dining-billiards table and an adjacent living room. An exposed brick wall frames the space and marks the beginning of the private part of the house, the bedroom, and the office. The designed furniture seems to blend into the overall compositional whole and creates a unified harmony with the past and present.

The daylight in the apartment is naturally dim, so artificial lighting illuminates the spaces from other sources. A few illuminated accents in the space are a subtle final achievement of the overall spatial composition.
