Studio of the Sculptor Gediminas Jokūbonis is a modern architectural object, designed and built for the sculptor in 1962-1963 by architect Jaunutis Makariūnas, commissioned by the “Art Foundation”.
Built over 50 years ago, the studio continues to amaze with its original and modern architectural solution – its round space is covered with a glass roof, and the light that pours in envelops the inspiring creative interior. The space is almost sacred in its perfect interior, unusual layout, and abundance of light.
To what extent does the creative space influence creativity? In a sense, it is a place where the idea and its embodiment are joined: transformed into an object or action, recorded in words, visualized, etc. It is the boundary between the external and internal worlds, a space that reflects the harmony or order created by the artist, a place for the spontaneous flow of imagination, designed to create perfect conditions for concentration, rational reflection, and inspiration.
Located in a rather unusual and little-known place for city dwellers, next to the railway tracks, the studio is where some of the author’s most famous works were “born”, inspired by the exceptional creative environment.
