About

• From the former Bishop’s Palace to the current Presidential Palace, this building is reminiscent of governments and regimes from the 14th century; and has been reconstructed as many as 13 times;
• The first palaces built on this plot in the 14th century were wooden, and Laurynas Stuoka-Gucevičius also contributed to the transformation;
• Napoleon Bonaparte, Mikhail Kutuzov, Alexander I, Mikhail Muravyov resided here;
• In order to maintain the perfect symmetry of the building, imitations are created in those places where the windows inside the building are functionally unnecessary;
• One of the buildings of the complex is a corps de garde — the headquarters of the military guard. This is an exceptional and very rare building for such a purpose in Lithuania;
• The balcony of the Presidential Palace offers a unique panorama of Vilnius Old Town.
