The open architecture weekend

This year's Open House Vilnius will be held on 22-23 April. During this event, fifty of the unique buildings in Vilnius will be open to the public.

Open House Vilnius invites you to plunge into the joys of learning about the exclusive, high-quality architecture of the city. During the open architecture weekend, the buildings that are usually completely or partially inaccessible to the public will be allowed to tell you their fascinating stories.

Free tours and the event is open to all!

The programme of the Vilnius Open House weekend includes tours of buildings guided by volunteers, the building creators and “residents”.

Most of the tours WILL NOT REQUIRE any REGISTRATION. All you need to do is arrive at the scheduled time and participate. The tours that require pre-registration will be marked with the letter R, and the registration will be performed by filling out a form on the building's web page.

Go through the list of buildings and plan your weekend route by creating your own personal catalogue of buildings!

Or download the event program.

If you are experiencing difficulties choosing from among the multiple options, we can recommend five different routes.

Take a close look at the architecture and explore the factors that have determined the appearance of the buildings in the city. Why does architecture take one form or another? How does it change over time, and how is this affected by changes in the society, fashion, political system and technology developments, as well as by the growth of the city itself?

Choose the route you like best, and discover different ways to read and interpret the stories of the surrounding buildings that are inextricably intertwined with the life of our city, our country and its people.
